Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
